Dehradun, 30 October 2026: The Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun has developed a hybrid micro-cutting technology that can produce 30 neem plants in one year from just one plant.

The problem it solves

Neem is valued across India, but raising large numbers of good plants quickly has been a challenge. The new technique is aimed at producing plants faster and in bigger quantities.

Boost for commercial farming

According to the report, the method is expected to promote commercial cultivation of neem. A single tree can bring in about Rs 1,000 a year, which could make neem an extra source of income for farmers and nursery owners.

About FRI

The Forest Research Institute is one of the country’s best-known forestry research institutions and a landmark of Dehradun. Further details such as training for farmers and nurseries were not part of the reports reviewed.
