Dehradun, 30 October 2026: A round of talks between Uttarakhand Roadways management and the employees’ union has ended without a settlement. As a result, the union has decided to go on an indefinite work boycott from Friday.
Management’s instructions
Roadways Managing Director Reena Joshi has written to all regional managers (operations and technical) and assistant regional managers. The letter tells officers to remain at their posts and ensure that bus services are not stopped. She also reminded them that an order on the matter was already issued on 1 October.
What passengers should know
Roadways buses are an important link between Dehradun and other towns, so a prolonged boycott can affect daily commuters, students and festival travellers. The reports reviewed did not list the union’s detailed demands or say how many buses may be affected.
Passengers are advised to check bus availability before leaving and to keep an alternative such as private buses, taxis or trains ready until the situation is clear.
What to watch
Whether the management calls fresh talks, and whether services run normally at the Dehradun depot over the next few days, will decide how badly commuters are hit.
