Dehradun, 30 October 2026: The Uttarakhand Power Corporation (UPCL) has released a timetable of scheduled power shutdowns for large parts of the city. The cuts will continue till 5 November, in the middle of the festive season.

Areas and timings

Balawala, Kuanwala, Miyanwala, Harrawala and Laxmansiddh Colony will face a five-hour cut from 10 am to 3 pm on 30 October and again on 2 November. Other localities are covered on different dates in the full UPCL timetable.

Why residents are worried

The shutdowns are being carried out for maintenance work, but many residents say the timing is difficult as markets and homes are busy before the festival. Shopkeepers and small businesses that depend on electricity during the day are likely to feel the impact most.

Tips for residents

Check the schedule for your own locality, charge phones, inverters and power banks in advance, and plan work that needs electricity outside the shutdown hours. Complaints about unscheduled outages can be made to UPCL’s consumer helpline.
